garden progress

Day 1 Wednesday 10 August – the new garden has been created in the area behind the staff room near to the pool. Seedlings have been planted in the paper containers made by 3LM – beetroot, sunflower, cucumber and lettuce. They are currently sheltering from the crows among the plants near the old gate entrance. Shallot ends have been planted directly into the garden bed. Anyone is welcome to view and comment, the area is a bit out of the way but you are welcome.

The existing garden continues to thrive – the tomatoes have gone wild but are very productive. Other crops are coming along nicely now that the sun is shifting slowly higher as the seasons change. Produce is being used for lunches in the tuckshop and our tabbouli was a great success.

  1. The garden looks fantastic. I bet the tomatoes are delicious.

What are you planning on making with the beetroot when it has grown? When I was growing up my mother would sometimes make a soup from beetroot called borsch. It was really delicious with a swirl of sour cream and some snipped chives.
